The abuse was only noticed when she started school, instead of giggling uncontrollably like many first grade girls do she was distracted and could not concentrate on learning. When the bruises and scratches started to show up everywhere her teachers were concerned.
Child welfare was called and she was taken away from her parents. The foster family she was put into started to do all of the chores that she used to do and that made her surprised. She had always taken out the trash, cooked ,cleaned, and many others. Lily had never played with dolls or watched cartoons on early Saturday morning. She could not form good relationships for friends and was depressed with a very very low self esteem, and she had nightmares, reliving the horror of the incidents many times over.
Lily met with therapists and they had her tell all of the stories from when her father had beaten her. The found that her dad had not always been abusive but had very many trigger for his outbursts. After sveral months of therapy she has started to get a better self esteem, she can form good relationships and has ways to cope with the pain.
This had to be really hard for her, having your dad make you do grown up chores at five years old; it has to be harsh.
